Congratulations to John Spierling and the crew of Rebel on winning the inaugural S2 7.9 Lake Erie Championship regatta. Cary Diehl and Ford Yacht Club put on a fantastic regatta. The out of town boats which came from Racine, Louisville, and Sarnia arrived on Friday afternoon. After a stray shower it turned out to be a great afternoon to see friends from the S2 fleet. Although there was a forecast of rain and storms all day Saturday, it turned out to be a perfect morning and early afternoon for sailing. There was sunny skies and a 10 knot Southerly breeze. We were able to get in three races before the forecasted rain arrived. After stowing their boats, everyone came to the pavilion to partake in refreshments supplied by Ted Wagner. Sundays forecast held true to downpours and gusty North winds to 30 knots. Races were canceled and the Regatta was complete. With the budding S2 fleet and the beautiful grounds of Ford Yacht Club, this is a regatta you should plan to attend next year.
